Nursery

The village of Ashover, set amidst the Amber Valley, forms a delightful backdrop to our Nursery. Although the Nursery is set in a rural environment, it is housed in a modern building with up to date facilities, but of course the most important thing your child will do here is play and socialise.

Our outdoor area includes our own fenced area with some amazing climbing toys, including a pirate ship. The Nursery children are able to watch their older siblings playing in the school’s main playground and we believe that this makes the transition into main school much easier. We also have use of the school’ s 4 acres of grounds, including an adventure playground and we use the running track for a Nursery Sports Day in the summer.

A new outdoor play area is currently under construction – the photo below shows this area:

Our aim at Ashover Nursery School is to provide a warm, safe and stable environment within which your child can play, learn and socialise. The basis of our Nursery philosophy is to meet the development and educational needs of every child as an individual.

Within the Nursery provision we incorporate all the major areas of play – creative, imaginative, exploratory and educational. Sand and water are always provided as are 2 role-play areas which change termly.

The Nursery is designed so the children are able to move freely between the activities they chose.

During your child’s time with us, they will be constantly assessed and a record of their progress will be kept. This record is available for you to view at anytime and we would welcome any additions from parents/carers.

We look forward to welcoming you to our warm, friendly environment, where your children always come first.
